Fines

Cooper, Attorney at Law, P.C. will do everything possible to aggressively fight your driving under the influence charge and keep fines and other consequences to a minimum.
Two factors greatly impact the amount of the fine you'll be required to pay if you're convicted of a Pennsylvania DUI - your blood alcohol content (BAC) and any prior driving under the influence convictions you have had within the past 10 years.
Pennsylvania DUI law has three tiers based on BAC, and the punishment for each tier is based on the number of prior driving under the influence convictions. The three tiers are:
- General Impairment - .08 to .099 percent BAC
- High BAC - .10 to .159 percent BAC
- Highest BAC - .16 percent and greater BAC
If you're facing a first-time general-impairment Pennsylvania DUI charge, you can be fined $300 in addition to the other repercussions you face. If you're convicted of general-impairment Pennsylvania DUI and have one prior conviction within the past 10 years, you can be fined $300 to $2,500. If you have two or more prior convictions within the past 10 years, you face a $500 to $5,000 fine.
If you're charged with a high-BAC Pennsylvania DUI charge with no prior convictions within the past 10 years, you can be fined $500 to $5,000 in addition to the other consequences. A high-BAC Pennsylvania DUI conviction with one prior carries a fine of $750 to $5,000, and a high-BAC charge with two or more priors is punishable by a fine of $1,500 to $10,000.
Pennsylvania DUI charges with the highest BAC carry significantly higher fines and other repercussions. If you're convicted of a highest-BAC Pennsylvania DUI charge and have no prior driving under the influence convictions within the past 10 years, you'll be ordered to pay a fine of $1,000 to $5,000. A highest-BAC Pennsylvania DUI conviction with one prior carries a $1,500 to $10,000 fine. If you have two or more prior DUI convictions, you'll be ordered to pay a fine of $2,500 to $10,000.
The fines ordered after a Pennsylvania DUI conviction can be debilitating, and the surest way to avoid this punishment is to avoid getting convicted in the first place. An experienced Pennsylvania DUI lawyer from Zachary B. Cooper, Attorney at Law, P.C. will fight your driving under the influence charge with the goal of minimizing or even eliminating fines and other repercussions.
